From 50 Shades to Erotic Shorts – Different Kinds of Sexy Books

If you like books to get you hot and bothered, you’ve definitely noticed there are so many to choose from. With the popularity of Kindle and other eBook readers, books are instantly available and what you buy is private. Authors are writing more of these delicious nuggets than ever because it’s easier for readers to get them.

You’ll find everything from Erotic Romance like 50 Shades of Grey to the Bigfoot Erotica you’ve seen on the news lately. But if you’re a novice (or sharing your naughty read with an uninitiated partner), you might want to know the difference between all the categories.

Steamy Romance

These stories are all about the development of a romantic relationship between two characters (sometimes three or more if it’s a Reverse Harem). These books can be set anywhere and about anyone as long as there’s a happy ending and plenty of passionate lovemaking on the way there.

The love scenes are absolutely detailed to a blush-inducing degree. These are books you probably don’t want to share with your mother, but each one is part of building a relationship into something worthy of the Happily Ever After ending all romances have. Here are some examples of Steamy Romance:

Erotic Romance

The differences here aren’t hard to describe. In erotic romance, sex is more important than in steamy romance. The scenes affect more than just the main characters and the story wouldn’t work without detailing their sexual connection. This makes a tingle-inducing difference during your reading experience.

Erotic romance has some hardcore descriptions during the love scenes. The characters talk dirty and don’t wait until they think they’re in love to do the deed. Another hallmark of erotic romance is that the lovemaking is often on the kinkier side. BDSM, sex toys, foreplay in public, and other things too hot to mention here are all on the table, sometimes literally. These books will curl your toes and aren’t for the faint of heart!

Erotica

Some people say that erotica is just a fancy word for porn. But erotica is what happens when pornography intertwines with emotion. It definitely features hardcore sex that’ll get your blood pumping but yes, there is a plot. Erotica’s about a sexual awakening, journey, or discovery.

Some of these tales are so long and involved, they span several books. Others are twenty to thirty pages. The erotic short story might be my favorite type of read. You can often find these bundled together into longer volumes.

While the books you’ll find here could inspire scripts for adult films, they’re not just about sex happening between two (or three, or six) people (or horny werewolves, I’m not picky).

And Then There’s the Weird Stuff

These books, their authors, and even the readers find their way into the media. As mentioned above, a US Congressional candidate loves Bigfoot erotica. E.L. James got a three-movie deal for Fifty Shades of Grey. And when Anne Rice admitted she’s also A.N. Roquelaure, a bit of a scandal erupted.

Sometimes the attention comes from how strange the tales are. There have been several news articles on stories where one of the characters isn’t human. Yes, sometimes the studly man is actually a dinosaur. One of these erotic authors made headlines when he got nominated for a Hugo Award for the book I’m listing below.

Sexy Books for Everyone

Now you know what you’re looking at when you search for sexy books. With an Ebook, nobody has to know what you’re reading unless you want to share. Check these books out, be free, explore your fantasies and discover your desires.
